The Darkest Flower

image_pdfimage_print

Kristin Wright’s book.  An Amazon first read book.  Reading it now.  Four chapters in.  It uses the “person as chapters” writing.

So far Kira, the PTA president has been arrested for possibly trying to commit a poisoning of another PTA member.  This book should go quick.

Finished on May 28, 2021.  Wow!!!! Kira is crayCRAY!!!!  She “didn’t” do it but she sure wanted to.  The depths of a mothers love goes deep.  She’s fighting desperately to get her fifth grade son into Yale (yes at that young age she has a “path” she wants him to take) but his son’s friend is as smart or smarter that he is.  Oh and he is black so Kira thinks he has an advantage to get into Yale.

She wanted to poison Finn’s friend so that Finn would stand out more but ended up not going through with it.  Then someone else gets poisoned and she gets accused of doing it.  Aconite from the Wolfsbane flower is doing it….Well you get a deep dark in depth look at her mind.

I like the writing style, the chapters were long (some of them to long to finish before I fell asleep) but it was a fine read anyway.

The Night Window

Jane’s at it again with the Techno Arcadian’s.  Just when you think you’ve cut off the snake’s head, another pops up.  This one bigger, badder and richer than the last.

So far her son has been taken hostage, she’s on the run again with a guy named Vikram who is a hacker with backdoors to all the alphabet government agencies.

Bernie and Jasper are watching over Travis and are sedated and just now waking up.

Vikram makes a deal with the Nogales underground car thief to get them another vehicle.

The movie maker Thomas Buckle is being hunted by the worst of the worst Techno Arcadians to either turn him into an “adjusted person” or just plain kill him.  My guess is Buckle will get free and end up helping Jane end these very bad people.

Just finished to series.  Great read….All 5 books.

My favorite thing in this last book is “YOU HAVE BEEN VIKRAMIZED!”  Hacker at it’s best….

I would recommend this series to anyone.

A Deadly Influence

This is a book review for: A Deadly Influence by Mike Omer.

I started this book on April 9, 2021.

So far the story lines are good.  They have started to interweave a little and you can see how the characters know each other.  It’s suspenseful enough to keep me wanting to read the next chapter.

Gabbi is a young online “Media Influencer”.  One of her followers has a crush on her and has kidnapped her younger brother to get her attention.

The twists and turns from the Cult to the “influencer” to the NYPD and stuff got a little muddy late in the book.  Was a good read though.  I would recommend it.  I finished the book on 4/26/202.  17 Days to read.

The Forbidden Door

A Review of “The Forbidden Door” by Dean Koontz:

This is book 4 of the Jane Hawk series.

As with the previous two books, Dean repeats some of the key points in the series to make sure the reader knows what’s going on.

I personally hate jumping into a series in the middle and not starting from the beginning.

Jane does her best to avoid the Arcadians, save her son and get the really bad guys.

It took me a little longer to finish this book than I anticipated.  Personal things going on.  Projects, hockey and life.

I liked it and give it a 9 out of 10 enjoyment level.

The Other Couple

Book review for The Other Couple by Cathryn Grant:

I just started the book and it already has me hooked. It doesn’t take long for the story to develop and characters are revealed for who they really are.

Joe and Skye are two “drifters” who leach onto Brad and Maggie.

Brad is a marriage councelor who thinks his work is his life. Maggie is growing weary of the marriage and has an affair with Darrel.

Joe and Skye are trying to blackmail Maggie into giving them 10k to keep quite about the affair so Brad doesn’t find out.

We will see how the book turns out. It promises a “twist”.
